The controller is obviously built to take power sources closer to the PS4 ports so i'm guessing over the course of time the components just wore down much faster than they're supposed to. Web5v is the only voltage it accepts. I couldn't tell you the minimum amperage, but higher can't hurt. Fast chargers are fine, as long as they're designed correctly, and only put out 5v until it can negotiate with the device for a higher voltage. The controller won't charge any faster, but it'll work. I would, but it violates an axiom I live by.
