WebYeah, PSADT is great, but not always the best or as an option for packaging. I would suggest using PSADT always as a wrapper for MSI or EXE. That will make all the installation standardized and gives an excellent end-user experience. I wouldn't call adding a shortcut in MSI repackaging but simply packaging or building MSI from the scratch.
